Surgery Day: 1 week later

It's been one week since the surgery for Chloe. She's recovering well.
We now had to see the box via XRays to ensure everything had set
correctly.

The Dr. gave her a thumbs-up and a "See you in 6 weeks" bill of
health... which is good. Chloe has been pretty brave and amazing over
the past week. It's been challenging for all of us, getting up in the
night and negociating crutches & small stumbles.

Chloe went back to school this week and was welcomed by an adoring and
caring set of classmates & friends. She certainly feels loved.

Thank you Chloe for your courage. We love you.

Tucker hangs out with papa...

A nice weekend with his grandparents. Tucker (and only Tucker) got some good one-on-one time with them. Often times the family gatherings are large, with brothers, sisters and cousins everywhere ... It's nice to see the dynamic when they can spend some quality time together.

Surgery Day: Pain Management

Recovery begins... it starts with Pain management, mapped to a 1 to 10 scale. When we saw her for the first time, she was right about at an "8"....
After some meds, she was back down below a 5. She didn't make much eye contact, and she wasn't quite herself. Lori and I looked at each other, somewhat helpless.

For the next 7 hours, our Chloe began to come into focus, as she herself began to feel... more like herself.

My daughter's testimony... On her differences.

Tomorrow my daughter Chloe will present to her 4th grade class one of her most intimate stories.... her own.
I was touched by the words she had prepared, and I got to help her organize some images that she collected to help tell this story.

Next week Tuesday, (March 2nd) Chloe will be in the hospital for her 3rd major surgery on her foot.

Thank you Chloe for your bravery. We love you.

Kids raise money for Haiti children...

My kids did something that amazed me the other day... In about 10 minutes, they completely set up a 'performance' in the front of our house to attract and raise money for the children in Haiti. I was in the front doing some yard work. When I turned around, and saw what they had built & were doing, I had to grab the camera. In about 30 minutes, they had raised $17...
